PNCR HOLDS SUCCESSFUL CONFERENCE IN REGION NO. 2

The Annual Regional Delegates Conference of the Pomeroon-Supenaam Region (Region No.2) of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) was held on Saturday 7th October 2015 at the Charity Primary School. The Conference under the theme, “PNCR Facing the Future united and resolved to achieve National Consensusâ€, was attended by over two hundred delegates from the Region. The Conference was chaired by Ms. Dacia Jones with the welcome remarks by Mr. Joseph Hill. The feature address was delivered by PNCR Vice Chairman, Hon. Volda Lawrence. Secretary of the Region, Ms. Doreen Duncan, A.A presented a Regional Report to the Conference.

Before delivering her address, Ms. Lawrence led the audience in singing “To God Be the Glory†in recognition of the PNCR once again assuming office. She said that the theme of the conference was very far reaching and very deep in that the PNCR never turned its back on the future of Guyana. Ms. Lawrence also spoke on the need for unity to achieve national consensus. This theme, she said, speaks of the fundamental ideas and the philosophy of the Party.
The Party Vice Chairman said that the new Ministry of Social Cohesion is working towards building that torn fabric of our society, and seeking to bring about national unity. She said that the Party is committed to its ideals: “even though we may think of a Government under a new leadership; it is committed to its philosophy of one people, one nation fulfilling one destiny. The Party will never falter from pursuing this motto which we, Guyanese, have adopted several years ago.â€
Ms. Lawrence also quoted the Founder Leader, Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham from his inaugural speech in 1964 in which he said:
“This Government holds that all the peoples of this country are equally important whether they belong to a large group or a small group. To us the Amerindians are important, to us the Chinese are important, to us the Portuguese are important, to us the Europeans are important, to us the mixed races are important, to us the Africans are important, and to us the East Indians are important.â€
She concluded by saying that, “… to build this country, a Government of national unity must see all of its people as important and that is the Government that you have today.â€
The election of office bearers was conducted by Mr. Fitzroy Corlette who also delivered the installation and charge to the newly elected members.
