New NCW Executives Elected

The National Congress of Women (NCW), the women’s arm of the People’s National Congress Reform held their Biennial Convention on Monday 28th July 2014 at Congress Place, Sophia. The Convention was attended by Delegates and Observers from all ten administrative Regions of Guyana; representatives from North America also attended. The theme of the Conference was: “NCW for National Unity, Good Governance and Development.”
Presentations were made by the National Chairperson of the NCW, Ms. Cheryl Sampson and Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform, Brigadier David Granger.
The highlight of the Convention was the election of officers to lead the women’s arm of the PNCR for the next two years. Ms. Cheryl Sampson was returned as Chairperson; Volda Lawrence was elected as First Vice Chairperson, Carol Smith-Joseph as Second Vice Chairperson, Linda Gomes-Haley as Treasurer, Sandra Adams as Assistant Treasurer, and Germane Van Sluytman was elected as the Assistant Secretary Treasurer. Fifteen executive committee members were also elected to serve until the next Biennial Convention.
The NCW in keeping with their constitution will soon appoint someone to serve as the National Secretary.
